Abraham Maslow Needed Jesus

Utilitarianism, Deontology, Self-Actualization. All theories/ethics of some sort. All in my life and have been studied and being studied. All, in need of scholarly review and reproof from time to time. Nothing in this world is ever set in stone, except for the Bible. My issues with Self-Actualization, is that it depends on things that change, it exempts cracks in the pyramid, and completely dismisses the fact that, without a stable and steady following after Christ, no one is truly fulfilled; constantly looking for "something", in other activities, ideas, even in people.

(2 Timothy 3:7)

“Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.”

The bible clearly warns, stating:

(Colossians 2:8)

"Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ."

In between those cracks of "self-actualization", these people still have anxiety, commit adultery, fornicate, lose sleep, suffer with depression, keep their lives open to unhealthy and unstable connections, etc. There is no mention of spiritual health, and the need to have a foundation built on Christ, to actually be fulfilled. So, Abraham was off. He was well known for his theory, but was off. I have yet to understand, if he has done a reversal of his own theory, and what happens when people get to a point in life (because we all do), where certain colors of that pyramid are not there, because, certain things in life happen.

That is where God comes in and fills in those blank spaces; rebuilding, recreating, and re-establishing. Loss and grief, are huge hits to that pyramid and its man-made stability, that history and psychology has upheld. Humans have the innate need for safety. Before even realizing it, and the need to know what comes after this life, and how safe we are, then. That need was created by God and placed in us, so that we may come to the knowledge of His truth.

I will say this about Mr. Maslow, he was right about some things. Every need he mentioned, is an important part of our human existence. While I see where he erred, I see a clear breakdown of what many of us find important in life. However, as our need to survive at certain points in life, the colors of that pyramid become repositioned. The one and only steady certainty, is Christ. There is assurance in Him and total fulfillment.

Questions to consider: Who did Abraham base his theory off of, and what were their beliefs and backgrounds?
